BACKGROUND:
Commercial property design guideline development rules were changed in 2015 without legally-required notification or input from nearby property owners and neighborhoods. These "temporary" rule changes removed block character, height and transition requirements for commercial properties in close proximity to 1- and 2-story residences and historic areas throughout Bozeman. These rules are now the basis for permitting large scale commercial residential developments, such as the 5-Story Black-Olive project, and will be used by a number of other developers who are ready and willing to build a wall of massive 5 and 6 story buildings looming over Bozeman neighborhoods.
PETITITION
The City of Bozeman should not review or approve any 3-6 story commercial buildings in close proximity to residential homes and neighborhoods until Bozeman citizens and neighborhoods are given their lawfully required opportunity to review, study, understand and offer input on commercial development rule changes "temporarily" adopted in 2015. This legally required public notice and opportunity for community and neighborhood input must occur before these rules are used to approve applications for large-scale commercial buildings in proximity to neighborhoods, 1- and 2-story homes and historic areas.
PLEASE ATTEND - MONDAY - AUGUST 7th - CITY COMMISSION DECISION @ 6 PM: Attend and speak out against the "Tipping Point" Black Olive Project. If this project is approved by the commission on Monday night, it will have serious ramifications for all Bozeman neighborhoods and property owners in close proximity to large-scale developments. Your neighborhood could be next.
