Save the American Pika!

An endearing fur ball, the American Pika is well–known to hikers who hear these hamster–sized mammals whistling from rock piles and talus slopes in Canada and the western Rocky Mountains. Their presence may someday be a memory, as climate change threatens their limited habitat.

Pikas are extremely sensitive to heat — even brief exposures (as little as a few hours) to temperatures above 78 degrees Fahrenheit can be fatal. They also rely on snowpack for insulation in the winter. In the southern portions of its range, some populations already occupy the highest altitudes, with no place to move upward to escape the warming climate.

The EPA has proposed a landmark standard for climate pollution from new power plants. This standard will help end dirty energy as we know it and keep animals like the pika safe from the effects of climate change.

We know that industry leaders and their friends in Congress will be attacking it at any moment — and we need our voices to rise up louder than theirs. Tell the EPA you support its proposal to help curb climate pollution and save animals like the pika!
To whom it may concern:

I strongly support the EPA's efforts to limit industrial carbon pollution from existing power plants, the largest source of carbon pollution in our country.

Fossil fuel burning power plants are the single largest source of dangerous carbon pollution in our nation and one of the largest in the world. And it's NOT responsible for the U.S. to have NO limits on carbon pollution from power plants!

EPA's efforts to limit dangerous carbon pollution from power plants will protect public health, fight climate change, and help our economy by sparking innovation in clean energy technologies.

Our communities, our families and our children are counting on your leadership. Please enact strong limits on carbon pollution from America's existing power plants.
