Add your voice to support women's land rights in Africa

A groundswell is building in Africa. Women from the small farms dotted across the continent are on the move. And this October, these rural women will come together at Mount Kilimanjaro to demand their land rights.

Why? Because despite the fact that women like Thabu Chidimba (pictured) produce almost all of Africa's food supply, she continues to be denied her right to own land. In fact, smallholder farmers in Africa, most of whom are women, produce 80% of the continents produce.

This is about to change.

Women like Thabu are getting ready to undertake a historic climb up Mount Kilimanjaro – Africa's highest peak. From the top of the mountain, women farmers will raise their voices and demand their rights. But they need your help to ensure the world is listening.

Land rights are basic human rights and securing land rights for women is key to women’s empowerment and ending gender inequality and injustice.

Rural women like Thabu have had enough – they're standing up and demanding change.

This October, for the International Day of Rural Women and World Food Day, thousands of women farmers are coming together at Mount Kilimanjaro to demand their land rights. Thirty of them will climb to its peak.

Don't let them climb that mountain alone. Let them know you're behind them all the way!

It’s time women all around the world had equal rights to own and access land. I pledge to stand with the women of Africa this October as they climb Mount Kilimanjaro to demand their rights! Let’s conquer this mountain together.
