Urgent Appeal by Betheirvoice
An unimaginable Mass Slaughter of Jordan's dog population is currently taking place unchecked and unreported by mainstream Media. The Mass Slaughter of Jordan's dog population began almost overnight in October 2017, when Jordan's Grand Mufti, Dr. Mohammad Al-Khalaileh, issued a fatwa to kill ALL stray dogs following the death of a young child who was bitten by a dog,. She was taken to a hospital and instead of treating the wound properly, she died from an infection.

They URGENTLY & desperately need donations. [to protect their ongoing rescue & negotiations we our respecting their request for anonymity here], however updates will be provided as they occur. NO DOG IS SAFE & every dog they save will need a safe place of shelter, food and vaccinations. We urge you to stand with us in support of them so they may save as many dogs as possible - UNTIL WE CAN END THIS NIGHTMARE! If we do nothing - in a matter of a few weeks it could be too late. Thankfully many Jordanians are as horrified as the rest of the civilised world at this slaughter….. Jordanian Activists negotiate to remove some dogs to safety

Petition Letter
We call upon His Majesty, King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan to bring and immediate end to the fatwa issued by Grand Mufti, Dr. Mohammad Al-Khalaileh and call upon ALL people of Jordan to cease, immediately, this unimaginable, inhumane slaughter of all dogs of Jordan.
Jordan is a country which like many across the globe suffers from over population and the consequential stray dog issue. As long back as 1990 the World Health Organisation and the WSPA released a report that stated the most effective method is combination of:
- Sterilisation (at least 70% of the she-dogs)
- Education (responsible dog ownership, breeding, dumping)
- Registration (identification of both animal and owner)
We urge His Majesty to invest time and resources with the assistance of Jordan's animal welfare organisations to implement sustainable humane management of the canine population, via a sustained vaccination and neutering policy. Let Jordan be an example of Islam's humanity.
