Demand the release of children from Louisiana's prisons before COVID's second wave

More than 200 kids are currently being held in Louisiana's juvenile prisons, separated from loved ones. Over 80% of these kids are Black.

As the COVID-19 crisis continues to worsen throughout the country, prison facilities have proved especially vulnerable to outbreak. In fact, new coronavirus cases among the kids and staff in Louisiana's juvenile prisons were on the rise this past spring. That is, until the prisons abruptly stopped testing.

Prisons are already unsafe environments for children. But even more so now when it's nearly impossible to social distance, and during a pandemic that's disproportionately harming the Black community.

It doesn't need to be this way. Many of these children can be safely returned to their communities — through furloughs or outright release — until this crisis is over.

You can help save vulnerable children today. Sign the petition to demand the release of these children to the safety of their families!
