Worldwide, 5.5 million children are innocent victims of forced labor and child trafficking. They have been bought and sold, forced into prostitution, or made to work in jobs with grueling and dangerous conditions with little or no pay.
Their childhoods are being stolen.
Thousands of these children live right here in the United States. The U.S. is a source, destination, and transit point for trafficking victims.
Human trafficking has been reported in ALL 50 states.
UNICEF works to protect all children from violence, exploitation, and abuse -- aiming to reduce factors that make children vulnerable to trafficking and creating protective environments that guard children against exploitation. It's time for our political leaders to join the fight and fully support programs that reduce and prevent child trafficking.
