End Violence Against Children Worldwide

Zoputa was just 14 when her mother sold her to sex traffickers and sent her to live in Italy.

After two years of enslavement, Zoputa escaped from the compound where she was being held and found her way to a police station. There she met a welfare officer who connected her with SOS Children's Villages in Nigeria, where she was welcomed into a new, loving SOS Family.

Unfortunately, Zoputa's story of being sold into slavery isn't unique. Over a million children are trafficked every year, bought and sold across international lines and exploited for labor or commercial sex. Most are not able to escape like Zoputa.

Every day, in every country, millions of children are victims of violence in their homes, schools and communities. An estimated 120 million girls and 73 million boys have been victims of sexual violence, and almost one billion children are subjected to physical punishment on a regular basis.

This abuse often remains hidden. We need to end the silence.
