Help Retired Research Chimpanzees Get to Sanctuary!

Chimpanzees have long been used for biomedical research in the United States. But in late 2015, chimpanzees gained protection under the Endangered Species Act and have been essentially "retired" from research.

The problem? Many of them don't have a place to go, so hundreds of chimpanzees are still waiting in research facilities throughout the country.

Project Chimps is on a mission to provide lifetime sanctuary care to the remaining 204 chimpanzees at the New Iberia Research Center. With the help of generous donors, we now have a 236-acre sanctuary in the beautiful mountains of Northern Georgia. We've already brought our first two groups of retirees home, but we still have more chimpanzees left to make their #RoadtoRetirement journey to sanctuary.

From the moment they leave their laboratory life and begin their trip to Georgia, their lives will be changed forever. Our residents will have tons of space to roam around and plenty of new friends to make.

Will you help us bring these chimpanzees to their new home? Sign your name to join Project Chimps and help retired research chimpanzees get to sanctuary!
