I'm calling for the salaries of The President, all Senators and Representatives to be put on hold until the current government shutdown ends and a budget deal is put in place.
During a shutdown, all "non-essential" federal workers are sent home without pay, while "essential" personnel are forced to come to work — also without pay. They can't even take PTO vacation time, even though it's the holidays. Basically, government workers are screwed and cease to be paid — but not the President or members of Congress. They continue to receive their salaries of $400,000 and $174,000 a year, respectively, even though they're the ones who caused the shutdown in the first place.
They need to take full responsibility and feel the brunt of this shutdown as much as the "little people" they're hurting. They caused this mess. Their workers aren't getting paid during the shutdown — and neither should they.
Sign the petition to demand that their salaries are frozen during any and all government shutdowns, now and in the future.

Thank you so much for your signature and support for what we all know is only fair. When I started this, I hoped for maybe 2-3 thousand signatures. Surprisingly today it has just short of 28,000. My next step will be to email this to the leadership of both parties in both congress'. I'll still collect signatures so feel free to share the petition at any time. Thanks to all who have signed. Your help will hopefully bring about action. I have to admit I hoped and expected more by now but won't give up. I'm grateful to those who think what's right is what should happen. Merry Christmas
