Tell Congress to cap co-pays for chronic diseases and seniors

Skyrocketing costs at the grocery store and gas pump have been a challenge for all Americans, including seniors living on fixed incomes. Lawmakers in Washington must work to bring down out-of-pocket costs for the medications that millions of seniors rely on just to survive.

By capping co-pays for medications that treat chronic diseases like arthritis, heart disease, and diabetes, our policymakers have an opportunity to give added financial certainty and peace of mind to those that need it most. Not only will this help individuals who rely on medications to treat chronic diseases, but more affordable access will ultimately lead to better health outcomes and lower costs for the overall system.

For those living with chronic conditions, financial stress should not be a part of their battle. As Congress and the Biden Administration look for ways to provide relief amid growing inflation, the health and well-being of our seniors needs to be a top priority.

Tell Congress: Cap co-pays for chronic diseases and seniors who rely on Medicare Part D for their medications in any new health care package. With costs rising across the country, the health of our nation's seniors cannot take a back seat.
Dear [Decisionmakers]:

Americans across the board are dealing with the added stress of rising costs and economic uncertainty. As Congress looks for ways to lower health care costs for American families, we urge you to prioritize proposals that help people managing chronic health conditions, including our nation's seniors.

I urge Congress to cap co-pays for medications that millions of seniors take on a daily basis to treat chronic diseases like diabetes, arthritis and heart disease. Capping co-pays on medicines that many of our nation's seniors must take to survive will help bring added financial security and peace of mind to those that need it most.

In any major health care package, I support legislation that would extend co-pay caps on medicines in Medicare Part D that treat chronic conditions. Not only will this help seniors who are dealing with skyrocketing inflation, it will lead to better health outcomes and bring down overall costs on the system. The stakes are too high not to act.
