We vow to think before we speak. We will think carefully about what we are about to say and remain mindful of our goal to spread compassion, kindness, and peace with our words.
We vow to persist in our efforts to think before we speak even if at times, we forget our vow and misspeak. We will give ourselves the forgiveness that we would give others and we will double our efforts to speak kindly and reasonably towards all.
We vow that, while hard truths are sometimes unavoidable, we will speak them in a way that shares caring and love to those with whom we speak.
We vow that we will maintain our peacefulness and speak with compassion even in the face of anger, hostility, and fear in others. Others harsh words will not deflect us from our goal.
We vow that our words will be our peace. We will spread peace to everyone we meet and speak to them kindly each day.
Finally, we vow that, just as our words are our peace, our actions will live up to our words and so to contribute to spreading light of kindness, love, and peace.
May All Beings Be Freed From Suffering. So long as a single being suffers, then our work is not done.
