Free Hassan Touray Now

This petition is about about Hassan Touray.  Hassan is currently under detention in The Gambia's notorious Mile 2 prison because his company sued the government for non-payment and breach of contract. . 
Hassan left a lucrative career with Pepsico in the United States where he was a software engineering manager.  Together with his brother, they financed a project for the issuance of biometric identification cards in The Gambia.  Their company, Pristine Consulting, entirely financed the project without any financial contributions from the government.  A contract for the project was signed on April 20th, 2009.  It soon became apparent that the government had no intention of honoring the contract.  The company sued the government for breach of contract.   However, on the date that the case was to be heard, the government charged of bogus charges, arrested, and remanded Hassan so that he would not be able to attend the civil case.
You can do your part by contacting the Texas congressional representatives (who have already been very responsive) and ask them to send a message to the Gambian government that a commercial dispute should not lead to the arrest of complainants using the courts:
