George Clooney: Star in "The Meltese Dodo"!
Dear Mr. Clooney -
Your dedication to preventing violence and atrocities in places like Darfur is well known. Dealing with climate change is key to that.
As UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said, the Darfur conflict "began as an ecological crisis, arising at least in part from climate change."
France's Nicolas Sarkozy said, ""If we keep going down this path, climate change will encourage the immigration of people with nothing towards areas where the population do have something, and the Darfur crisis will be only one crisis among dozens of others."
Nothing can be done in Africa to prevent this, because that's not where the CO2 is coming from. It must be done in the developed countries. And what can be done? It has to start with education. That's the aim of "The Meltese Dodo," to present the history of climate science in such a way that 1) everybody will pay attention and 2) no one with an open mind can remain a denier. Of course, there will always be people who refuse to change their minds. The Pew Research Center suggests this is about 17% of the population. This movie is for the other 83%.
With your participation, this movie will be seen far and wide.
It's also a challenging role, with grit, cynicism, tenderness, love, and humor. You would be great in it.
Climate change threatens the whole world, but Africa more than any other area. As American consumers, we are a huge part of the problem. Let's be a huge part of the solution!
