The Illinois budget crisis is forcing cuts to schools, public safety, human services and more--disproportionately harming women, including business owners, working mothers, senior citizens and survivors of domestic violence. A bipartisan group of more than 200 Illinois women leaders is marking Women's History Month with an unprecedented joint call for comprehensive reform to solve the state budget crisis. They invite all Illinois women to sign this joint letter to the governor and legislative leaders.
We the undersigned Illinois women are joining in one voice to call upon ALL of you to lead the Illinois General Assembly to act NOW to pass a comprehensive tax reform package that will provide adequate revenue to vital services supported by the state of Illinois.
Your leadership is critical to ensuring that a new, responsible and balanced approach to funding state government, education, and vital human services is achieved.
As citizens and spokespersons for all the citizens of Illinois, we need your leadership to put aside political agendas and support the balanced revenue reform solutions that will help Illinois' struggling families and businesses and put us on a path to stability and prosperity.
We are counting on you to act responsibly for the good of the people you were elected to serve, to work together, and get the job done now.
