Physician's Lien in Iowa

As an office manager in a chiropractic office in Iowa, I have seen too many cases where my office has written off money owed to us for auto accident clients who settle their cases and don't pay their bill. Currently there is no legal way to protect our office from clients who choose to do this. Insurance companies and many attorneys want to be the "good guys" in their client's eyes, therefore they don't honor agreements their client previously made with their physicians to have their medial bills paid directly from their settlement money. They don't because they don't HAVE to in Iowa. How many thousands of dollars do providers have to write each year because of not having any legal protection to secure payment from these settlements? Iowa is one of the last states that doesn't protect our physicains this way. Please sign this petiton for congress to make our Physician's Lien a legal form of protection in Iowa.
