The ultimate goal of this petition
is to make the American government let the following countries:
Cyprus, Czech-Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovak-Republic
join the group of the countries which citizens do not need a visa to visit USA

Sponsor: Witold Wolkowski

Addressee: Congress of the United States of America

We, citizens of the following countries: Cyprus, Czech-Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovak-Republic, and also citizens of the USA, direct this petition to the American Congress requesting equal rights in regards to the visa regulations.

We, the undersigned - as %u201Ccitizens of the world%u201D (referring to the quote of the great American president John F. Kennedy, %u201CMy fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.%u201D) - direct this petition also to our government, it means to the governments of: Cyprus, Czech-Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovak-Republic and USA, so that they act together on our behalf as new citizens of the European Union to jointly start negotiations on the international level with the government of the USA.

Right at the present moment - after the crash of communism in Europe (out of these 9 countries, 7 are countries where people can finally enjoy democracy, this democracy that America supports and defends so firmly) - is the best time to achieve such relations between countries as they would have been if not the iron curtain raised for 50 years when the world divided into two blocks - one democratic and free, and the other one living under the soviet heel. Now is the best time to achieve a situation when these new citizens of the free world would have an opportunity to see with their own eyes what was forbidden for them for a few decades - a country which through its politics of the eighties significantly contributed to the falling of this curtain.

Knowing each other and learning each other%u2019s history would certainly help to straighten our feeling of security in the world where lack of a real knowledge about average citizens of other countries - very often their neighbors - makes it possible and easier for some countries to convince their own citizens that they should take various actions causing harm to the people from other countries.  Lets enjoy our freedom that we have had a chance to get in our life. I personally enjoy it and I thank America for my freedom and for accepting me as her citizen. This is an honor for me and for my family. From the moment I was nine-year-old, and at the same time from the moment when a great president, J.F. Kennedy, a big dreamer with a great vision and a freedom defender unexpectedly departed, I have been fascinated by America. I have been always under a big impression of this man. Now, I can do something that corresponds with his famous quote, %u201CAnd so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you --- ask what you can do for your country.%u201D

I, Witold Wolkowski, as a citizen of this country - America - do it for my country. Taking advantage of what I have learned in my life - mostly here, in USA - and also following the principles I adopted from my parents and from my fellow-citizens here, in my new homeland USA, as the first one I am signing this petition.

I am asking people of good will to sign this petition. Only together, only acting solidarily (that%u2019s how communism fell, first in Poland and then in Europe) we can achieve the goal this petition is supposed to serve. Signed,
