In south Texas, Veterans and their supporters have been advocating for a much needed VA hospital for over four (4) decades. Presently there are construction and expansion plans for of a Veterans Affairs Out Patient Clinic in Harlingen, TX. We would like to petition the Veterans Affairs since construction is just starting, to include a VA hospital in the plans. There will be sufficient space. It will be more cost effective than constructing the planned VA Ambulatory and Specialty Outpatient alone. We ask why not make it a full hospital once and for all. The opportunity presents itself, why not take care of the need now. It can be done.
We the undersigned would like to request that the Veterans Affairs look into the matter of a much needed VA hospital for veterans in Far South Texas. At the present, the Harlingen VA Out-Patient clinic in Harlingen, TX is undergoing expansion of services and space. What we would like to ask why not construct a much needed VA hospital once and for all? The new building presently under construction will be of sufficient size to house a hospital and the proposed emergency medical and surgical care. After all, that is what a hospital does.
