Drop Known-Abuser Emile Hirsch From Quentin Tarantino's New Movie

Ever since Quentin Tarantino's latest film project, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, was announced, it seems that a new A-lister has been added to the cast almost weekly. The star-studded film about Sharon Tate's murder by the Manson family is set to star Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Margot Robbie, Burt Reynolds, Dakota Fanning, and many more.

Unfortunately, known-abuser Emile Hirsch has also just been added to the cast as well.

Please join in demanding that the film's producers Heyday Films and Sony Pictures Entertainment drop Emile Hirsch now!

Actress Jameela Jamil was the first to call out this problematic decision. After hearing about Hirsch's casting, she tweeted, "Cool. Emile Hirsch strangled my tiny female best friend until she blacked out at a party in front of dozens of witnesses at Sundance Film Festival (and was convicted) but Tarantino just cast him in a movie. INTENSE case of rich white male privelege eh? Cool. Cool. Cool."

Following the 2015 incident at Sundance, Hirsch's career suffered a blow, but now he appears poised to make a comeback, thanks to Quentin Tarantino. This isn't the first time Tarantino has protected a known-abuser either. During the fallout from the Harvey Weinstein scandal, Tarantino (who worked extensively with Weinstein), admitted that "[he] knew enough to do more than [he] did."

On top of that, when actress Uma Thurman shared her story of being attacked by Weinstein, she also spoke out about Tarantino's own abusive behavior toward her on set during that time.

#TimesUp for powerful men protecting each other from accountability. We cannot let Emile Hirsch's abusive behavior be forgotten and let him celebrate a Hollywood comeback.
