On August 27, 2026, an HVAC technician named Richardson Noel was inside a Sanford, Florida home finishing a service call when he turned and kicked Boomer so hard the small dog lost consciousness and had a seizure. He thought no one was watching. He was wrong. A Furbo dog camera on the counter caught every second, and when the homeowner's girlfriend got the motion alert on her phone, she saw her senior dog crumple to the floor.
Boomer survived. A veterinary exam found no broken bones, but the internal bruising and the seizure tell their own story about the force behind that kick. Noel was fired by his employer, EL Danta HVAC Services, within hours of the video surfacing. Sanford Police arrested him and charged him with aggravated animal cruelty. Sanford Police Chief Cecil Smith said it plainly: someone entrusted to enter a family's home violated that trust by viciously injuring a defenseless animal.
Being fired is not justice. Boomer is twelve years old. He did not provoke this, could not defend himself, and will likely flinch at strangers in his own living room for the rest of his life. I am asking William Scheiner, the State Attorney for Florida's 18th Judicial Circuit, to prosecute this case to the fullest extent the law allows: no reduction to a lesser charge, no diversion program, and no plea deal that lets Richardson Noel walk away with a clean record. Video evidence like this is exactly why Florida's aggravated animal cruelty statute exists, and Boomer deserves to see it used.
