China has always been known to be the most populous country in the world. It is also the most polluted country in the world. For years various forms of pollution have increased as China has industrialized, which has caused widespread environmental and health problem. Immense and sustained growth of the People's Republic of China since the 1970's has exacted a price from the land in increased soil pollution. The State EPA believes it to be a threat to the environment, sustainable agriculture and food safety. China also produces 2.3 million tons of electronic waste. Dis-assembly and processing of electronic waste can create jobs and recycle valuable materials but also harm humans and the environment by releasing pollutants. One of those reasources is coal. They continue to use it as a power source because it's cheap. But it also makes the air even harder to breath in. The water resources of China are affected by both severe water quantity shortages and severe water quality pollution. Air pollution is damaging the health condition of Chinese people. Zhong Nanshan, the president of the China Medical Association, in 2012 warned that air pollution could become China's biggest health threat. Lung cancer and cardiovascular disease were increasing because of factory and vehicle air pollution and tobacco smoking. Not to mention, China is a major contributor for infectious disease burden worldwide. Beijing is almost uninhabitable as a result of pollution. On bad days, bike lanes are completely deserted, as people stay at home or retreat to conditioned environments of hermetically-sealed malls. It’s as if the population of the Chinese capital is engaged in a mass city-wide rehearsal for life on an inhospitable planet. Only it’s not a rehearsal. The poisonous atmosphere is already here. The reason why no one isn't doing anything to help the environment is because the government is more concerned about the growing population. Even so, China should do something about their countries environment. I propose that America should team up with China to solve it's pollution problem. China will be more visitable for tourists and the air will be safer to breathe in, and bring both our countries closer together.
