--Did you know know that disposable diapers use nearly 100,000 tons of plastic and 800,000 tons of pulp derived from trees, each year to make their product. Over 3 billion gallons of oil and 250,000 trees, each year, are used to manufacture disposables.
I think it is important to draw attention to this matter. Every person that uses cloth diapers is helping make a significant environmental change. I think that instead of paying for more landfills through taxpayers’ dollars that a tax credit should be granted to all families who can show a receipt for the use of cloth diapers and/or diaper service.
Let's also increase the tax for single use diapers to offset the rebates and to recognize that by population, diapers make up the 3rd largest contributor to landfills.
