When staff pleaded with him to bring the dog in -- if she needed pain medication that badly, she clearly needed veterinary care -- he flat out refused.For days, Kimber's owner refused to bring her in as the poor dog needlessly suffered. Finally, when animal welfare officials met with Kimber's owner, he described what happened -- but continued to refuse to bring her in for care,
claiming that her saliva from licking the wound was healing it and that she was "happy and doing fine."After a while, Kimber's owner finally agreed to surrender her to get the care she needed. When officials arrived
on the scene, they found Kimber soaked in blood.
Her back leg bone was exposed. She smelled of infection. Her hair was starting to painfully embed itself in the wound.
She had lost a severe amount of blood. She was covered in fleas and ticks.
Kimber was not going to survive in this man's 'care.'Thankfully, Kimber is doing well in the care of medical professionals.
We are also relieved to hear that this man was forced to surrender his other dogs to authorities -- six large dogs and eight puppies.Clearly this man cannot be trusted with animals.
If you are not willing to get your dog's veterinary care, especially after something as traumatic as Kimber went through, you should not be allowed to own one. Period. Sign the petition and demand that the prosecutors on this case propose a lifetime ban on animal ownership for this man!
