URGENT NEED: Bring back Purple Packets Healing Resources for Survivors of a Suicide Loss

In 2009, SPAN-GA (www.span-ga.org) created the Healing Resources Purple Packets to fill a need for information to leave behind and get into the hands of Survivors of a Suicide Loss as quickly as possible. This population is at very high risk for suicide themselves. Grief can often be managed on its own, but a traumatic loss like suicide requires support, leaving us to find ways to get new survivors to those much needed resources as quickly as possible. We have been able to distribute 10,000 purple packets each year for 6 years, and this effort grew to be one of the most successful project we had executed, until new leadership at the Suicide Prevention Program determined that they could do it better. So for the last 3 years we have had no healing resources to connect Survivors to those resources. We have gotten hundreds of requests from law enforcement, mental health professionals, school counselors, crisis line staff, and more to please provide them with these resources as there is a desperate need. We need for the funding for this resource to be reinstated and to get these purple packets back in the hands of those that are serving survivors of a suicide loss. Postvention is prevention! Help us to support Survivors of a Suicide Loss in Georgia!
