LET MY PEOPLE GO

We are just wanting to open the eyes of people on the court systems and the whole world on the true story on what is going on with our young men in all nationalities giving inmates more time then should be for the amount of drugs on hand. The questionable sentencing practices relating to crack rock verses powder cocaine. We do not want our family members or others to beforgotten or spend any unnecessary time behind bars.We feel rape, murder and molestation carries a lesser weight  than something that you choose to do to yourself such as ingestion of drugs. Especially we feel that the young men that are being charged for it are a lot of the teenagers' first offense and it ends up being 15 to 20 years and the first offense should not be that strict, it is taking away their whole teenage years and putting them in an adult situation before they are ready because everyone knows all teenagers think about is money, cars, and clothes and we know we have all been there and it kills any second chances for a first time offender. It should be 3 to 5 years for the first offense given, the second offense should be 10 years, and  the third should be the maximum you can get because by then they should have learned what was going to happen after the first time. We would really like to know what the American people have to think because crack is only 10% to 18% of the pure cocaine with the additives included. We were wanting everyones support and opinion on the matter to try to get a change because young people are out to look to get the fast cash and everyone speaks of second chances and if you are counted out before you get started then do we really as the American people give second chances because alot of us condemn people before you even get the whole story its convict now ask questions later it seems like in this day and age. Alot of the young people that have been in there for a few years have learned their lesson and is still being penalized for a mistake made on the road we call life. Can we really say they are being rehabilitated if they are just thrown in there and forgotten about how can we expect them to change. We have loved ones in there and know how it feels and were wanting everyones opinion or just a simple yes or no to see if you feel that this is the appropriate punishment for a first time offender 15 to 20 years.
