SCHOOL ZONE

I contacted the city a while back in regards to making our crosswalks safer within our community. I was told nothing could be done. We live off what seems to be a very busy road, 45 mph, semi-trucks that drive through that should take C.R. 419 to there destinations!! Just yesterday at school pick-up, I witnessed a truck going 50 mph after kids just crossed the cross walk!!! I am PISSED! I laid on my horn and the truck didn’t even hesitate to slow down! Even with the cross lady who was waving and blowing her whistle! I’m furious and I won’t stop until these children have a safer means of GETTING TO SCHOOL! In one direction there is a school around the corner about 500ft before our community drive, and the other direction about 1/4 mile down there sits our school and these schools sit on the same street! We have crosswalks with signs and people drive about 45 to 60 mph around a bend, no care at all to SEE if kids are at the crosswalks! Kids are afraid to cross the road around here! Now the city may not have their children go to school over here, but all of our elementary kids live here, about 1/4 middle and high school kids live here in our community. This is ridiculous and something needs to be put in place. I am that annoying squeaky wheel. Please help me to help our children have safer means of crosswalks here, who live off of Snow Hill in Chuluota.
