Reparations For An Oppressive And Harmful Psychiatric System

I've been a psychiatric patient wrongfully forced into treatment with psychotropic medications and involuntary inpatient psychiatric hospitalizations intermittently for 30 years and still (involuntarily) being forced to take psychotropic medications. Psychiatry is oppressive in "treating" patients and even taking their personal freedom. Psychiatry has caused me to have a tremendous amount of anguish, stress, distress, and duress. I believe psychiatry today overly emphasizes psychotropic medications and neglects what the patient is truly thinking. This petition is made to notify the American Medical Association (AMA), and the American Psychological Association (APA) of the harmful practice of psychiatrists in the hope that the AMA and APA will use talk therapy and NOT psychotropic medications as their main method of treatment. Exploring the patient's thoughts and developing coping strategies for the patient are the most effective treatments in helping psychiatric patients. Psychotropic medications dehumanizes and have many deleterious side effects including: hallucinations, delusions, suicidal ideations, thoughts of hurting others, involuntary muscle movements, drooling, only to name a few. It is hoped that psychiatry will change its ways and make it a priority to use empathy and patience in understanding the patient, not psychotropic medications.
