Ask California Legislators to Regulate Animal Cruelty Registry for Offenders

Several animal rights groups have been pushing for an animal abuse and cruelty registry in California but most attempts have met with much opposition.  Such a database would be highly beneficial in protecting animals from future abuse.  The possible expense involved in such a registry is nothing compared to what animals endure at the hands of someone with little regard to their feelings and respect. It is not clear why animal activists and organizations would oppose such a registry although the humane society feels such a database would be shaming of mentally unstable people that are unlikely to threaten pets of neighbors checking the list of offenders.  Such issues would be determined through the legal system and does not warrant cruelty to animals.  There are many more benefits for the animals targeted by abusers and can be crucial in their protection and well-being.

It is important that we all take steps to protect animals from further abuse.  Despite the history and background of anyone who abuses a poor defenseless animal, there has to be some type of protection for these creatures.  They are living and breathing beings that do not deserve to be treated inhumanely and we must step up and be their voice.  Our efforts in this petition is to encourage the California State Legislators to give some serious consideration to this matter and implement an animal abuse and cruelty registry.  You can help us in our efforts by signing and sharing this petition.

California State Legislators – Some attempts have been proposed for implementing an animal abuse & cruelty registry in the state of California but such efforts continue to meet with opposition.  Such a database should have the same effectiveness and stature as that of registries for sex offenders, child and elderly abuse sex crimes against defenseless animals are horrific and escalating.  An animal abuse & cruelty registry would be an important tool in the right direction for protecting animals statewide.  The database would be a means in preventing repeat animal abuse and cruelty, along with ensuring that people on the registry be prevented from any future lifetime interactions or ownership of any animals. The registry would contain the names, locations and history of any convicted animal abusers for a lifetime in protecting defenseless animals that cannot speak out or protect themselves.  Please take a crucial step as you work for the well-being of animals through such a database.
