Push for stronger punishment for animal Abuse

Animal Abusers are more times than not only given a slap on the wrist for abusing & hurting innocent animals. I feel the animal abusers will move on or already are abusing children or adults. I feel that animal abuse is a progressive crime.....eventually moving on to children & adult abuse. I would love to see the crimes against animals treated as the crime that they are. People who hurt animals are in fact animals themselves. I'm actually surprised this has not already been done.
