CFISD has created a clear backpack policy to keep students from shooting up the school, yet we are still allowed a small handbag or purse. A handgun can easily fit in either one which defeats the whole purpose of clear backpacks. This is also an invasion of privacy. Some people don't want their extra clothes to be seen such as under garments. Girls are also very uncomfortable with this especially since majority of them are going through puberty. This also dictates to backpack manufacturers to what they should be producing because one district's rule said so. No one should be forced to have or create a certain type of backpack. We have freedom in this country. That's the first amendment, freedom of choice, speech, and religion. Clear backpacks also put students at a higher risk of becoming victims of theft.
Help me get to 2,000 signatures and I will be able to talk to the board about this issue. Tell your friends and family even if you don't go to a school in CFISD. Spread the message. You wouldn't want this to be you.
