A female baby dolphin was found stranded on Fort Myers Beach in Florida and died despite rescuers' attempts to save it. Why? Because she had consumed 2 plastic bags and a piece of a balloon. And it is not only dolphins or whales that end up dying because of plastic and other wastes.
Upon ingesting waste, aquatic animals are unable to absorb nutrients which causes other problems by blocking or damaging their digestive tracts. This can cause death by starvation and dehydration, or making them more susceptible to other infections.
It is our duty and responsibility to keep the environment clean for everyone because we only have one Earth and one chance to keep it alive and healthy.
