Massachusetts: Crack Down on Black Market Dog Hauling!

Well-meaning Massachusetts pet parents have been unwittingly adopting sick pups from out-of-state Southern and Midwestern shelters. These shelters have lax spay and neuter regulations which cause overcrowding.

A 2005 Massachusetts law requires out-of-state dogs to be quarantined for 48 hours to prevent sick animals from coming into the state. Unfortunately, importers have been skirting regulations by transporting dogs in vans and exchanging them for cash in commercial parking lots. Imports are on the rise as more prospective dog owners use online searches to find pets.

Dog imports enable shelters to keep their regulations lax, leading to animal overpopulation and disease. Pet owners are devastated when they learn their new pups are sick. Please sign the petition to urge Massachusetts authorities to crack down on black market dog hauling!

We, the undersigned, are concerned about the rising number of corrupt pet importers.

Unfortunately, importers have been skirting regulations by transporting dogs in vans and exchanging them for cash in commercial parking lots. Imports are on the rise as more prospective dog owners use online searches to find pets, and sick dogs are being adopted out.

Dog imports enable shelters to keep their regulations lax, leading to animal overpopulation and disease. Pet owners are devastated when they learn their new pups are sick. We respectfully urge you to tighten your enforcement of dog imports to prevent corrupt pet sales in your state. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
