Please sign this petition to STOP 7-Eleven From Opening on 1020 Port Washington Blvd!
After a failed attempt in Manhasset, 7-Eleven is trying to open a new store at 1020 Port Washington Blvd, at the old Capital One site. Please add your name below to let the TONH Board of Zoning Appeals know that a 7-Eleven is not welcome at the entrance to our town!
Dear Board of Zoning Appeals, Town of North Hempstead,
We, the residents of Port Washington and surrounding areas, request that the TONH BZA deny the application from 7-Eleven to allow a conditional use permit for retail food sales submitted for the property located at 1020 Port Washington Blvd. A 7-Eleven at that location will will endanger pedestrians (especially children) in the surrounding area by attracting additional traffic at all hours of the day and night, erode the character of our town by placing a chain at the entrance of our Main Street, will have adverse effects on local businesses
A 7-Eleven at 1020 Port blvd. will increase traffic and introduce unsustainable volume to an already busy intersection in town. It will force cars to divert and take side roads through our neighborhoods. Residents are already stressed by increasing cases of local traffic failing to abide by basic rules of the road (stopping at stop signs, observing speed limitations, yielding to pedestrians); any increased traffic further endangers our community - both pedestrians and drivers!
Thank you,
The Concerned Residents of Port Washington and Surrounding Areas

They were provided with a listing and were instructed that they schedule zoom meetings with the community. These meetings will be taking place in May per the Applicants Attorney.
4/16/21 - Application Filed with BZA
The BZA calendar is published on the Town's website at https://northhempsteadny.gov/content/16253/19819/16521/default.aspx. Please check often to see the agenda for these meetings.
They are asking the BZA for the following:
Conditional Use Permit to locate a retail food store in a Business-B zoning district.
Variances for insufficient parking stall size (8 of the 14 spaces are 9' x 18' instead of the required 10' x 20') and rear yard setback (garbage dumpster is 5' from the property line instead of the required 15')
This application goes before the BZA, not the TONH Board.
