Demand licensing and Insurance for cyclist's

California and many other states are spending millions of dollars of our tax money supplying an increasing plethora of benefits that are for use only for cyclist's. Special lanes on roads, special left turn lanes, bike racks, maintenance areas for bicycles at selected fire stations, millions of signs stating cyclist may use full lanes, signs stating cyclist lane only, share the road signs etc.

Much of this money comes from our gasoline tax, automobile license and registration taxes and of course other taxes that cyclists don't pay.

If you have a car, truck, motorcycle, scooter or any other motorized vehicle you have to have a license and insurance or you cannot use the roads or highways without fear of being given a very expensive ticket.

When ever a cyclist is injured and taken to a hospital or other health care agency the cost is once again not borne by the cyclist it is borne by all other tax paying citizens.

So I am saying that all cyclist that use our roads and highways should be required to have a license for their cycle, a license for themselves and a minimum of liability insurance.
