Save the Holbox Beach!

Save Isla Holbox! Save the Reserva de Yum- Balam! (Version en español mas abajo)

Local authorities have decided to develop the beach IN FRONT of the hotels that already exist. They plan on building cement block bars and businesses and a paved road! Not only will they be destroying the environment, and the vibe of Holbox, but they will be destroying their own prospects for tourism.

The \\\"proyecto\\\" planned for the beautiful Caribbean island of Holbox, Mexico- will destroy the dunes and the white powder sand that is so special to Holbox; part of the eco Reserve of Yum Balam. Their plan is to bring in the machines, knock down the dunes and the palm trees, and build a boulevard running parallel with the water\\\'s edge and then build permanent structures all along the avenue for rent to restaurants and bars. 

Gone will be the golden sunset walks, the sea shells, the frigates, pelicans, flamingos and cranes. The wide white beach will be converted into a commercial zone, serving only the tourist that enjoys traffic... The rustic-caribbean-laid-back-funky tourist town will disappear and the natural beach will be gone forever.

We need the voice of world tourism to express their love for Holbox in its natural state; non-developed, non-groomed, and without bars, restaurants, and traffic. Please help show the tourism department and the local "planners" the error of their ways by signing this petition! (And don't forget to pass it on!)

Salva a Isla Holbox! Salva a la Reserva Yum Balam!

Autoridades locales han decidido desarrollar la playa en frente de los Hoteles que ya existen! Planean construir edificios de cemento para bares y hoteles y negocios y un calle de pavimento! No solo van a destruir la tierra, y el ambiente de Holbox; también van a destruir sus propios prospectos de turismo. 

El proyecto planeado para la bella Isla caribeña de Holbox, Mexico - destruyeran las dunas y arena blanca que es un parte tan especial de Holbox; parte del reserva de Yum Balam. El plan de los oficiales es traer las maquinas, tombar las dunas y las palmeras, y construir un calle parallelo con el agua, y luego construir estructuras permanentes en la avenida para rentar a restaurantes y bares.

Desaparecido estarán las caminadas en la puesta del sol, las caracoles, los pelicanos, y flamingos y pájaros. El ancho playa blanco estará convertido en una zona comercial, sirviendo solamente el turista que busca trafico… El rustico, relajado, pueblo buena honda y caribeño se va a desaparecer,  y la belleza natural de la playa se ira por siempre. 

Necesitamos la voz del turismo mundial para expresar como aman a Holbox en su estado natural; sin desarrollo, sin bares, restaurantes y trafico no deseado. Por favor ayuda enseñar el departamento turistico y los planeadores locales el error de sus planes y firma este petition! (No olvides mandarlo a todos tus amigas y amigos!)
