Stop highway construction through Strathgartney Provincial Park

The provincial government is considering rerouting the Trans-Canada highway through Strathgartney Provincial Park.  There has been no public demand to reroute the highway.  It is speculated the motive behind this ill-advised idea is to gain access to federal funding for a make work project.  It is estimated Islanders would have to contribute several million dollars.

Strathgartney is a protected area because it contains the last example of pure beechwood, a tree that once covered most of PEI.  PEI has the smallest amount of protected land of any province at just 3.1%.  We need to bring more land under protection, not pave what little we have.
This popular park is much-loved by people seeking to reconnect with Nature.

View government documents and a map of the proposed route through the park.

Help put a stop to this really bad idea before it goes any further.
