This Parent's Group Threatened a Child With Violence Because She Was Trans

" A good sharp knife would stop the student"

Those words were written by a member of the "Achille ISD Parents Group," a Facebook group for parents of children attending schools within the Achille Independent School District. The author was referring to a 7th grade trans student who had chosen to use the girls' bathroom along with her fellow female students.

The vitriol started when some parents posted that the student was peeking over the stalls in the girls' bathroom. The disgusting threat was one among several, and forcing the school district to shut down for two days for the child's safety.

The most shocking part of this story is the fact that an adult parent had no qualms about publicly suggesting violence or worse against a 12-year-old child because she was trans. A child shouldn't have to worry about violence from anyone, let alone an adult who should know better. And a school should be a place of learning not hate.

Achille's ISD should be commended for prioritizing the child's safety but the adult members of the Facebook group who shamefully suggested and condoned violence against her should be investigated and punished.

Sign the petition and demand Achille's officials hold these hateful adults responsible and charge them with hate crimes.
