Carol Buckley was once an elephant trainer, but then made the wonderful decision to become an elephant rescuer by co-founding The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. Now that she no longer works with The Elephant Sanctuary, she has decided to open another Elephant Sanctuary in South Georgia.
We can only applaud the creation of another place where elephants can live in peace. However, Carol wants to take Tarra from The Elephant Sanctuary and re-home her in Georgia. Tarra has lived at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee for almost 22 years. It is her forever home where she has made friends with other rescued elephants.
We at Wildlife Pact believe it would be in Tarra's best interest to remain at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. There is no reason to move her beyond Carol's desire to have her favorite elephant in Georgia. But Carol wants so badly to take Tarra to Georgia that she has filed a lawsuit against The Elephant Sanctuary to gain custody of the elephant.
Please sign this petition to urge Carol Buckley (who's work we love) to reconsider her lawsuit, and let Tarra live out her life at The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. Tarra is now living a happy and comfortable life. We hope that Carol looks into her heart and soul and puts Tarra's best interest above her own desires.
