Tell Chevron - Free Pizza Won’t Help Victims of Your Exploding Well

  • van: Julie Rodriguez

On February 11th, one of Chevron’s fracking wells in the small Pennsylvania community of Dunkard Township exploded, shooting massive flames into the air and shaking the entire neighborhood.

Not only did the fire burn for five days, but one employee was injured and another is missing and presumed dead. It’s unclear whether the fire released any toxic chemicals into the surrounding area, and locals say Chevron isn’t giving them any answers.

So how did Chevron try to make things right after this accident? By sending about 100 residents gift certificates for a free pizza and bottle of soda. It’s obvious the company just doesn’t take the impact the explosion had seriously on this rural town.

Sign and share this petition to let Chevron know that offering free pizza to those affected by industrial disasters just isn’t good enough -- the company needs to commit to cleaning up the damage they’ve caused and work to ensure the area is safe!

Dear Mr. Watson,

We the undersigned request that Chevron Corporation commit more resources to “community outreach” than simply sending Dunkard Township residents gift certificates for free food.

The families affected by the recent well explosion are worried about their health and safety, and a pizza and a bottle of soda do nothing to address those very real concerns.

Please don’t let this be the end of your communication with those affected by the blast. Commit to cleaning up any damage your well has done to the environment and ensure the area is safe for residents.

Thank you.
