School shootings is becoming a big topic in todays society and to solve this problem, 18 states have decided to allow teachers and staff members to carry concealed guns on school campuses, but there are better solutions. Instead of arming our teachers and staff members, the school should hire more security personnels because they have experience than teachers and with more security personnels, there will be a faster response when an emergency happens.
Reasons not to arm teachers:
- Teachers are there for teachimg, not for defending lives.
- They wouldn't have the same training and skills as a security guard which could lead them into making a fatal mistake.
- The school doesn't check the psychological condtition of every teacher.
- We can take the money that would be used to train teachers and invest it more on better security.
If the state allows the teachers to be armed, it can open a debate on whether students and any vistor can carry a concealed weapon while at school to protect themselves.
In order to prevent putting guns in the hands of those who should have never had one, increasing security and keeping just them armed, we could protect more lives and reduce the risks.
