Recently Massachusetts has passed a law to raise the legal age to purchase tobacco product from 18 years old to 21. Federal law claims that those of us who turned 18 before January 1st 2019 Would still be elligable to purchase our tobacco products. But LOCAL county laws are enforcing a 21 year old to purchase ONLY policy which seems highly unjust and takes away the freedom of thousands of 18-20 year old citizens, INCLUDING those who serve our country through the military. Is that fair to us? No. Yes smoking tobacco or using tobacco products has its health risks, I am NOT saying to smoke nor do I want people to smoke which would cause health problems in their future. But what I WANT is the ability for us ADULTS... 18-20 year old ADULTS to be able to have the FREEDOM of responsibility to care for oneself, and have the freedom to be able to use tobacco as we please. It is not right to have our freedoms stripped from us due to local law when federal law grants us the right to purchase tobacco.
