Harmony School of Excellence -Laredo, a T-STEM Charter Public School delayed the announcement of how seniors will proceed with graduation commencement exercises. On Friday May 22, 2020, HSE sent out a notice about following through with virtual commencements. A representative of the school has been publicizing to parents that HSE is no longer responsible for the students and their activities after May 29, and that the most that they are able to do for them is have a virtual ceremony. However, on May 5, 2020 Governor Greg Abbott released new guidelines for four different options for schools to host graduation ceremonies, one of those options included an outdoor ceremony. The purpose of this petition is to advocate for the HSE Senior Class of 2020 and acknowledge their hard work properly with the support of the school staff and administration with a formal ceremony following the guidelines released by Governor Greg Abbott.
