The "Super Bowl" of Trophy Hunting Must Be Stopped

Thousands of trophy hunters are gathered in Nashville, Tennessee for the Safari Club International's (SCI) annual convention to promote the slaughtering of animals around the world.  The convention will auction off trophy kills of majestic animals, national and international hunting trips, and items and goods created from slaughtered animals. It's simple: SCI must be stopped. One way to do this is to better regulate trophy imports.

Sadly, the auctions will raise millions in funding for SCI's powerful lobbying efforts, which aim to remove critical state and federal wildlife protections, and make it easier for hunters to import hunting trophies and expand hunting seasons.

If the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service was more aggressive in preventing the import of endangered trophy animals, the SCI's powerful political lobby would take a large financial hit, reducing these kinds of events that glorify the murder of majestic animals.

Horrifyingly, the convention is auctioning off hunting trips that target elephants, lions, rhinos, leopards, polar bears, hippos, wolves, grizzly bears, giraffes and lynxes. We must prevent these kinds of events that glorify the slaughter and abuse of wild animals – and that starts with Safari Club International.
