Make Animal Cruelty Laws Stricter

Pelosi recently signed a bill to make animal cruelty a federal crime with the help of congress. But animal cruelty is still happening all around the U.S. and people aren’t doing much about it. I believe animals deserve some rights and stricter penalties for animal abusers being the first.

I read a few articles on animal cruelty and I’ve noticed how sometimes the person that is witnessing someone abuse their pet calls for help from the police but the police won’t do anything about it. For example, a woman recorded a video of a man driving a car that had his limping dog on a leash outside walking as he drove. She called the police but the police did nothing about it. The dog was clearly injured and hurt but the guy driving never got in trouble for this. I feel as if the police should definitely do something about any kind of animal abuse because it is just not right for an animal that has done nothing wrong to be abused by the person they think loves them.
