Lets put a stop to the horrible treatment of these innocent Donkeys in the beautiful village of Mijas Pueblo, Spain.
The Donkeys, used as taxis, are beaten and ill treated on a regular basis by the people who work with them. They are also left in terrible conditions such having their heads lashed to poles for long periods without being able to move, standing on their own urine & feces. Often they are infested with a tack that bites into their bodies producing painful sores and infections.
The government has promised for years to regulate the treatment of these animals, and punish those who mistreat them. But even today, people from this town still witness the cruel beatings of the innocent donkeys go unpunished.
Already in 2007, a a donkey was dragged behind a cart in the main street and died in front of tourists there was a national outcry, which attracted over 40 international and national organizations. Unfortunately the donkey operators were let off the hook by a ludicrous agreement to inspect the donkeys every six months.
Please help us raise our voice for these sweet donkeys by signing the letter below and kindly writing or calling the people of the government who can protect them.

Estimados gobernantes y medios de comunicacion de Andalucia,
Me he enterado de la situacion en la que se encuentran los burros del hermoso pueblo de Mijas, los cuales a pesar de los esfuerzos y promesas de su Alcaldia, siguen siendo golpeados y maltratados de manera regular por sus duenos.
Varias veces se ha visto que les dan golpes, punetazos, los tienen amarrados sin agua, sin moverse y con heridas sin tratar.
Creo que siendo uno de los principales atractivos turisticos de este pueblo, es importante que den una imagen mas respetuosa a estos animales que representan una importante parte del ingreso de la region.

Como bien dijo Gandhi, la grandeza de un pueblo se mide en la manera en la que este trata a sus animales.
Confio en que el gobierno de Andalucia, Malaga y Mijas, es un gobierno grandioso, y tomaran las medidas necesarias para detener totalmente los abusos a estos inocentes animales.
