We have lost Zanu Simpson, who was a pillar in our community.
Zanu and his brother Samuel Simpson gave back to their community and now it is time to say thank you by honoring him by renaming Peters Field located at Henderson Avenue & 183rd Place in Queens, NY to Zanu G. Simpson Park. This is where he and his brother often did community service - giving out book bags and school supplies to kids before school, as well as cutting hair for the homeless.
He and his brother inspired our youth, showing them that dreams of owning their own business as young black men can happen and will happen for them.
Zanu was killed by gun violence on the date of July 25, 2017, and the community is suffering a true loss and pain now that he is gone.
Please sign this petition to urging the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation to change the name of Peters Field to Zanu G. Simpson Park.

Hello Supporters.
Within the few coming months, residents within the Hollis Community will be receiving Letters of Support to sign. According to our district manager this will also help in the process of having our goal of Zanu G. Simpson Field & Park become a reality.

Good evening,
I just want to keep everyone updated in our efforts to have the park renamed. Some bumps have came in the road, but I'm looking to iron them out. This process has been heartfelt and at times disappointing, but staying positive to get this park renamed after a great one, Zanu.

Thank you so much for helping reach our goal of 20,000 signatures. Although this will be a process to get done, you have made the process even more comforting and easy. Zanu has brought all of us together to make a change.

Thank you so much for everyone that has signed. Today I spoke with a board council member to get an update on moving forward w/ the renaming of the park. And it was a very positive conversation.
It is important to have as many signatures as possible. With that said we had to increase the goal to 15,000. The #POWER in our community has been increased because of Zanu & Samuel Simpson. We are honored to have them in our community and we most definitely wanna give back.
