Stop Needless Dog Killings: Mandate Canine Training for Police Officers!

  • van: A. Ward
  • ontvanger: Nevada State Senate

Nevada Senator David Parks is drafting a Bill mandating that police officers undergo canine training to aid in the elimination of needless dog killings. Nevada animal rights activists estimate that at least 30 dogs have been needlessly gunned down by police officers who mistakenly believed the dogs posed a threat simply because they were barking.

Gina Greisen, leader of Nevada Voters for Animals has stated that police officers often mistakenly equate a barking dog with an aggressive dog.

“Dogs only have one voice and that is barking,” Greisen said. “When a dog is happy, it barks. When a dog is angry, it barks. When a barking dog races around the corner of his house and you are in his yard, he is doing his job.”

Tell the Nevada State Senate to pass Senator Parks Bill mandating canine training for police officers!

Dear Nevada State Senate:

Your fellow Senator, David Parks is drafting a Bill mandating canine training for Nevada's police officers. More than 30 helpless dogs have been killed needlessly. With proper training, a police officer can learn to understand a dogs behavior and know that not every barking dog is aggressive.

We (the undersigned) respectfully ask that you protect Nevada's dogs and support the Bill.

Sincerely,
