End Southbury's Chip Sealing Road Program NOW!

The Town of Southbury CT has recently implemented a chip sealing process to their road maintenance program. Chip sealing is a cheap pavement surface treatment that combines one or more layers of asphalt with one or more layers of fine aggregate. It is highly unpopular because the loose sharp rock that is used in the aggregate can crack windshields, chip paint on vehicles, damages tires, and gets lodging within brake pads causing damage to brake rotors. It also makes roads unsafe for children to play on and for bikers to ride on. Many neighboring towns have tried to implement chip sealing in their own road maintenance programs but in all cases had to eliminate the process due to the public backlash. It is the Town of Southbury's responsibility to maintain the roads properly and we all pay enough in real estate and personal property tax to at least have this basic public service provided to us.
