I'm petitioning concerning the lack of attention, resources, innovation and opportunities that entrepreneurs and college graduates who seek to start companies in industries such as digital media, technology, and science and many other industries have here. It's time for some forward thinking!
We have some of the best colleges and young talent throughout our state, but a lot of college students seek to move or are recruited to work by companies in other states after they graduate that offer jobs in these fields. If we could raise awareness, continue to modernize our city and provide opportunities we could compete with rival states and create a more diverse selection of jobs in our city.
This business center would be a place for these start-up companies to get expert mentor-ships and access to advisory boards in their industries, resources such as office space, legal counsel, marketing assistance. It will be a place to connect, work and team up with other like-minded entrepreneurs to start companies, solve problems and even raise seed money from investors throughout our city and state. We could rally support for the start of an entrepreneurship district downtown that would help bring more private start-up based jobs to the city.
Alabama is a great state, and Montgomery would be a
great location for companies to locate and build interactive software such as
video games, training software, web platforms, mobile apps that are built for
commercial sale and use, and more. To compete with other hot
spots in the south such as Louisiana and Georgia, however, we must put forth
the effort to let college students and entrepreneurs know what we have to offer
and that our city will support them and their business needs. This city investment
could lead to 100’s or even 1,000’s of jobs in our city.
It's time for our to city invest in the future of it's young citizens in the River Region. We must become competent and competitive in growing industries to keep pace in today’s global economy.
