The Mt. Eden High School Boys Varsity Basketball Coach is retiring this year. It's unclear if the hiring process has already began, however we (Concerned Parents, Students, Current and/or New Upcoming Players and Community Members) strongly believe the best candidate for the position is the current JV Coach Alex Sanders.
Reasons for Promoting Alex Sanders:
- He is a Monarch Alumni
- Established history and great relationships with the majority of the players along with parents from the start of their journey with the AAU Basketball Program through the Oscar Grant Foundation (since 2014) to playing on Frosh, advancement to JV and advancement to Varsity team.
- Inspires players to work beyond their limits so they may achieve a high level of skill and gain an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship and teamwork
- Promotes a strong belief in the importance of education through tutoring and homework study during the season to ensure players grades stay afloat
- He not only demonstrates great passion for coaching but truly cares for his players on and off the court thus creating a family environment/atmosphere. #itsbiggerthanbasketball
What's at stake if Alex Sanders and not given a fair chance/opportunity:
- Possible Shortage of players signing up due to students not returning the following school year to play boys basketball
- Possible Shortage of players signing up due to students not returning to Mt. Eden the following school year; transferring to another school or district
