Whereas, there are 80 homicides in Oakland, California as of September 5, 2011 we the people of Oakland request that the mayor and city council act rapidly to implement corrective actions.
We the undersigned, respectfully request that the Mayor and City Council cede to the voice of Oakland residents as outlined below:
1. Support gang injunction[s] in Oakland, CA
2. Support curfew for minor-children in Oakland, CA
3. Support no-loitering laws in Oakland, CA
4. Increase number of police officers to 900 in Oakland, CA
Whereas, without appropriate interventions, those responsible will continue to endanger their own lives and the lives of others; therefore, we urge the Mayor and City Council to make public safety a budget priority and to increase the number of police officers in Oakland to at least 900.
There are no plausible excuses for allowing known criminals to continue to terrorize the City of Oakland. We ask that you consider our plea and take the necessary actions.
We the undersigned, request that Oakland City officials make public safety a budget priority and act judicially and rapidly to implement legal actions as outlined herein.
We ask that you support gang injunction, curfew for minors and no-loitering laws in Oakland, CA.
